YOUR EYE EXAM

Your eyes are also windows to your overall health, and an eye exam can also uncover underlying health issues such as Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and brain or eye tumors.

Regular eye exams are recommended:

  • Children: A complete comprehensive eye exam should be done between 6 and 9 months of age. At least one eye exam should be done between 2 to 5 years of age and then once a year once he/she starts school.
  • Adults (19 to 64): At least once every 2 years
  • Adults (65+): At least once a year

We are committed to providing the very best quality when it comes to eye examinations and dedicate sufficient time to all patients to ensure the very best in eye care. A standard eye examination lasts for approximately half an hour and the optometrist will use a range of tests tailored to your individual needs. All of our tests are carried out using the very best in eye examination technology and your optometrist will provide step-by-step explanations so you know exactly what is involved at each stage. At Romin Optical, your eye examination is performed by one of our Licensed Independant Doctor of Optometry Mr. Mike McGuinness, O.D.

Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario; however, Mike has called Cambridge ‘home’ since 1997 where he completed his high school education at St. Benedict’s Catholic Secondary School.
He pursued his undergraduate studies in the Pre-Optometry/Pre-Health program at the University of Waterloo before obtaining his Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University in 2010 and has been practicing since.
Mike has extensive experience in ocular disease management, pediatric exams, and medication prescription.
Mike is also bilingual (English/French) and leads an active lifestyle through swimming and playing soccer.
