FAQ

PRESCRIPTIONS

WHERE DO I GET A PRESCRIPTION FROM?

To obtain a prescription you will need to see a certified optometrist who will carry out an eye exam.  We offer eye exams at our retail store, located at 580 Hespeler Road in Cambridge.  To schedule an appointment call (519) 620-1991 or book an appointment online here.

I HAVE A PRESCRIPTION; HOW DO I SUBMIT IT?

Ensure that your prescription is valid.

  • It is recommended that you get an eye exam every 2 years to have the latest and most accurate prescription.
  • Expired prescriptions will not be filled.
  • Prescriptions should include the doctor’s information, date of service and signature of the doctor.
  • All prescriptions are checked by our optician(s) and matched to your order before processing.

DURING THE ORDERING PROCESS YOU WILL BE GIVEN THE OPTION TO:

  • Upload an image of your prescription. You may take a photo with your phone.
  • Ask us to get your prescription from your doctor.  We will need your name, date of birth, phone number, email address and your doctors name.
  • Send your prescription by email to rxonline@rominoptical.ca

IS MY STRONG PRESCRIPTION COVERED?

We can fill all prescriptions; however, for strong and complex prescriptions, we recommend an in-store appointment with our optician(s) to ensure proper frame fit and measurements.  You can visit us in store at Romin Optical, 580 Hespeler Rd Unit C1 in Cambridge.  Please note that progressive / bifocal (multifocal) lenses are not available for purchase online in Canada.  Please visit us in store for multifocals.

WHERE DO I FIND MY PUPILLARY DISTANCE (PD)?

Your Pupillary Distance (PD) is typically provided by your eye care professional and it is the distance between the centre of both pupils in millimeters.  The PD will be required to fit your lenses accurately.

If your PD was not provided by your eye care professional, you can visit us in store to have our optician take the measurement.
